Prehospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) Program

Are you currently a nurse interested in prehospital emergency medicine?

The Prehospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) Program, presented by LifeTeam EMS Education and Training Division, is an intensive ten-week certification program designed to prepare the experienced registered nurse for employment in the prehospital emergency medical environment.

This course will shift the candidate's mindset from controlled hospital healthcare to the autonomous and out-of-hospital setting through a specialized education model, encompassing in-person classroom learning, online reinforcement of knowledge, and clinical field experiences. PHRNs act under the direct supervision of an EMS medical director and follow treatment protocols set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. By the end of this program, PHRN candidates will be prepared to challenge the NREMT ALS Level Cognitive Exam and will have passed the NREMT BLS Psychomotor Exam.

This course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as meeting the educational course requirement that an applicant for certification as a Prehospital Registered Nurse must satisfy in order to be certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a Prehospital Registered Nurse.

The sole intent of this program is to provide challenging yet accessible education in order to prepare the PHRN candidate for immediate employment within an EMS organization.
